摘要
Optically excited carrier dynamics near the insulator-metal transitions (IMTs) in a series of thin films composed of 12-nm colloidal gold particles and a series of thin polyaniline films of varying conductivity has been presented. Carrier lifetimes and dynamics have been probed directly by time-resolved laser spectroscopy measurements. Additionally, the films' mesoscopic structure has been determined with atomic force microscopy (AFM). Correlations are made between film structure, carrier dynamics, and conductivity. The issues of carrier localization, transport, and scattering are also addressed.
