摘要
This research argues the critical linkages between the emergence of new start-ups and the changing role of universities. Particularly, the development of University-Industry cooperation, following the evolution of industrial life cycles, from industrial to informational and molecular stage, would be discussed in this research to demonstrate the relationship between university and entrepreneurship. This study devised a qualitative analytical model to deal with the developing linkage of University-Industry cooperation based on the concepts of industrial structure, knowledge embeddedness, and entrepreneurship types.
The contribution of this research is organized along two sections. First, university would play different roles for creating the new start-ups in each stage of economic life cycle. The second section reveals that the practical role of university must be emphasized, to modify it teaching style and curriculums, offer lifelong learning, raise the cross-country flow of people, and to strengthen interaction with industries that university reacts to recent industrial life cycle.
