摘要

This paper investigates the preforming process of the textile type fabrics and the mechanical properties of composite parts made by textile preforms and resin transfer molding (RTM). A geometrical model describing the relationship among fiber orientation, local fiber volume fraction, and mold geometry is developed. The model prediction is compared with preforming experiments based on a plain weave fabric and a box shaped mold. A micromechanics model is applied to predict the strength of composite tubes made of braided fiber preforms and RTM process.
