title = "Plasmonic agarose gel droplets for SERS detection of molecules in complex fluids and cell culture medium",
abstract = "In this study we develop a gel-based SERS method that can be used to detect molecules in complex fluids such as cell culture medium by using gels to separate small target molecules from cells and large molecules such as proteins. We demonstrate the capability of our method by detecting adenine in protein-rich solutions and cell culture medium with E. coli without any sample pretreatment before measurement. We also show that we can detect 1 nM adenine in solution that contains 1% BSA and 1% casein.",
