N2 - Proportional integral (PI) based Genetic Algorithm (GA) method is applied to a brushless direct current (BLDC) motor with time delay conditions in this study. This study first defines and conceptualizes BLDC and PI controller with time delay conditions. Then describe a GA methodology and the method of combining PI controller into controlling a BLDC motor on a digital signal processor platform. The time responses of GA based PI controller design are better than those of standard PI controller design according to experimental results with different time delay conditions in this study.
