Numerical simulation of transonic flow over porous airfoils

摘要

A numerical study is made to examine the effect of a porous surface on transonic airfoil performance. By making the surface below a normal shock porous, a strong normal shock is replaced by a weakened shock preceded by an oblique shock at the upstream end of the porous surface, where air is blown out of the cavity into the supersonic outer flow. According to the present analysis, the result of this is that » porous airfoil has a smaller drag and higher lift than a solid airfoil. The present results are in good agreement with experimental pressure distributions and predict the observed lambda-shock structure.
