摘要

A study was conducted to estimate the effects of nanoparticles on microcellular polystyrene foams. The study demonstrates the use of carbon nanofibres (CNFs) as a highly efficient nucleating agent to form polystyrene (PS) microcellular foams. A complete dispersion of CNFs in PS matrix can be achieved by high-shear mixing and ultrasonication. It was observed that the presence of a small amount of CNF significantly increases the cell density and reduces the cell size.
