Network Reliability for Stochastic-Flow Computing Network with Overall Edges Transmission Mechanisms

摘要

In order to manage a computing platform with edge servers, a stochastic flow computing network (SCN) is constructed in this study. Network reliability is proposed to evaluate the performance of the SCN. It is defined as the probability that requests can be transmitted through the SCN with the overall transmission mechanisms of the edges. The demands generated by data senders (such as IoT devices) can be transmitted to edge servers and cloud servers. When focusing on the demands on the edge servers (or cloud servers), the demands would be compressed and transmitted back to the data senders and to the cloud servers (edge servers). Based on the overall transmission mechanisms, an algorithm is developed to calculate the network reliability of the SCN by elucidating the flow relationships between the data senders, edge servers and cloud servers.
