摘要
The observation of time-resolved emission spectroscopy and laser ablation of a single trapped polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) latex (≈5-μm diameter) in water is reported. A laser-trapping-spectroscopy-ablation system developed in the study is shown, and the experimental procedure is described. The nanosecond time-resolved (100-ns gate) emission spectrum of a pyrene-doped PMMA latex (approximately 5 μm) was measured under illumination of both CW and pulsed YAG lasers. Since the coverage of pyrene on the latex is low, the only detectable emission was structured pyrene monomer fluorescence with its maximum around 400 nm. In analogous conditions, an increase in pulsed YAG laser power resulted in ablation of a pyrene-doped latex. When a CW YAG laser was turned off, a latex particle irradiated by a pulsed laser was repelled. Laser trapping is the necessary condition for time-resolved emission spectroscopy and laser ablation of a single particle.
