摘要
A method to excite, distinguish and map, image localized and propagating surface plasmon (SP) modes was introduced. The radioactive decay of SP was analyzed by the Fourier space imaging. It was found that the scanning tunneling microscope (STM)-electroluminescence, the radiative decay of SP observed in Fourier space yields distinct features that reflect the degree of spatial distribution and delocalization of SP modes. A cylindrically symmetric spatial interference pattern was observed when the STM-induced plasmon was created within a cicular 'corral' boundary condition.
