摘要

Ionic liquids (ILs) are well recognized as an environmentally benign reaction media owing to their unique chemical and physical properties of non-flammability, controlled miscibility, and thermal stability. Recently, a wide range of ILs are used as soluble support for immobilized reagents and catalysts making this method green alternative to the conventional synthetic methods. IL support has been employed in parallel synthesis of biologically active compounds with potential therapeutic value. IL-soluble supports have significant applications in organic synthesis since their solubility properties can be finely tuned with the help of various cations and anions. Uses of grafted IL-phase technique in the organic synthesis have advantages such as easy purification by precipitation, high loading capacity, and homogeneous reaction conditions. The substrate anchored on ILs is suitable to monitor the reaction progress by common spectroscopic analysis such as NMR and mass spectroscopy. These IL-supported approaches provide a fertile ground for breakthrough discoveries in heterocyclic synthesis, asymmetric synthesis, and natural product synthesis. This chapter will review and aim current progress in the utilization of IL-supported synthesis in a variety of new fields.
