摘要
In an effort to develop an active and stable catalyst for the production of hydrogen from renewables a study of the Ru, Pt and Ru-Pt/CeO 2 catalysts for ethanol steam reforming and oxidation to hydrogen has been conducted. Ru is used for its potential for breaking the C-C bond while Pt is for its high activity in hydrogenation and WGSR when deposited on CeO 2. TPD of ethanol indicated that Ru/CeO 2 and Ru-Pt/CeO 2 have considerable similarities while that of Pt/CeO 2 was considerably different. These results are in line with steady state reaction for both reforming and oxidation of ethanol. HRTEM indicated that Ru and Ru-Pt particles are very small (less than 2 nm in size) and well incorporated into the CeO 2 support. The role of the two components of the catalysts separately and together will be presented in an effort to understand the reaction pathway and energetic.
