摘要
This article investigates the determinants in explaining the timing of information and communication technologies (ICTs) adoption. We examine whether there exists differences in determining the ICTs adoption among plants in high-technology industries and in traditional industries and how does it affect productive performance. The empirical results help to understand how the timing of the ICTs adoption may have impacts on ICT diffusion. Due to distinct differences in the nature of industries, the demand and the extent of ICT adoption and
diffusion are different for different industries. We find size variable the most significant in determining ICTs adoption while there appears different effects in different industries. And there exists significantly different patterns in determining factors on ICT adoption among high-technology industries and traditional industries.
