Electrical wavelength tuning of 1/2-rational harmonic mode-locked pulses in a dispersion based fiber ring laser

摘要

The precise wavelength tuning of a 1/2-rational harmonic mode-locked fiber laser by dispersion based time-domain filtering is discussed. Unlike other schemes, no any spectral selective elements are required. The laser wavelength is easily tuned by fine adjustment of electrical modulation frequency closely around optimum locking frequency. A tuning range of 10.45 nm is realized around about 1001 MHz electrical modulation frequency giving a 2002 MHz optical pulse train.
