摘要

To optimize parameters of computed tomographic angiography (CTA) and to make it a useful tool for detecting intracranial occlusive vascular disease. Two connecting tubes filled with 1% Telebrix-38 in normal saline were used as a model vessel for CTA. Multiple CTA's were performed after changing the following parameters: slice thickness (collimation, 1-3mm), pitch (1-3), and reconstruction spacing (0.1-1mm). Zigzag margin and artifacts of bands of low density (partial volume and stairstep artifact) were found on the vessel model nearly horizontal to the data collection plane (axial). These bands were more obvious at higher pitches and wider collimation. They were not seen on the model vessel vertical to the data collection plane. They were less obvious on the superior view of the vessel model. The effects of partial volume and stairstep artifact have to be considered when using caliber changes in CTA in the diagnosis of thrombosis or arteriosclerosis. To reduce these effects, the pitch should be low, and the collimation should be narrow.
