CO2 capture using a mesoporous silica adsorbent synthesized from photonic industrial waste powder

摘要

The possibility of using photonic waste powder (PWP) as the silica source for the synthesis of mesoporous silica MCM-41 was studied. The MCM-41 derived from waste powder, denoted as MCM-41 (PWP), was applied as adsorbents for the capture of CO 2 greenhouse gas. The mesoporous silica materials of MCM-41 (PWP) and MCM-41 (NaSi), denoted as TEPA/MCM-41(PWP) and TEPA/MCM-41(NaSi), respectively, were modified with amine reagent (TEPA) to enhance their CO 2 capture capacity. TEPA/MCM-41 (PWP) had a CO 2 adsorption capacity of 70 mg/g at 75°C, which is slightly less than that of the TEPA/MCM-41 (NaSi), 87 mg/g. This may be due to the pore volume and surface area of the MCM-41(PWP) being slightly less than those of the MCM-41(NaSi). Although the TEPAJMCM-41(PWP) has a slightly lower CO 2 adsorption capacity, it can reduce both the adsorbent cost and the solid waste production rate.
