摘要

Ageing and low birth rate had brought enormous changes on family structure and people's life style. The increasing demands of elderly care emerged with the growing ageing population. Currently, regular visitation is the most common step to take care of the elderly living alone in social welfare policy. However, there exists a care interregnum on elders' daily life behavior, especially those who live alone. In this paper, we proposed the E-LAWS (Elderly Living Alone Watching System) to assess the changes of daily life behavior for the elderly living alone. The core technique of the E-LAWS is a fuzzy system termed Fuzzy Grading System (FGS). The FGS is used to determine the levels of changes of the elderly daily life behavior. The results of recognized behavioral changes can be delivered to the elderly care center or the community-based care facilities to trace the elder's independent living conditions. This system provides a service model that can be integrated to the social welfare organizations to make decision or take actions of care plans to those elderly living alone. The system can solve the care gap between the interregnums of regular visitations and further improve the care quality for the elderly living alone.
