摘要

With poor geological conditions in Taiwan, the frequent earth quake and typhoon often cause serious landslides that leads to serious loss of human life and property. Because the majority of Taiwan is mountain, retaining wall is commonly constructed on the hill to protect residents and property. How to predict accurately when a retaining wall fails is of great importance to give warnings to residents facing a potential disaster. In this research the DIC (digital image correlation) method is developed for predicting natural disaster and aiding the rescue mission. Results of analyses indicate that changes of satellite images before and after disaster, the DIC method can be used to carry out accurate analyses on the landslide region and position. The long-term deformation of retaining walls in a potential disaster area can be analyzed based on long-term digital images to predict the trend and quantity of deformation. Additionally, quantitative analyses of the daily precipitation and retaining wall deformation reveal that the safe precipitation is less than 100 mm/day and the 300 mm/day is an alerting level for landslide to occur. Hence, the DIC method proposed in this research can be implemented for preventing natural disasters caused by landslides.
