摘要

Multi-input multi-output (MIMO) transmission with link adaption is one of the key enabling technologies for the next-generation wireless communications. Depending on the user's channel conditions, different MIMO modes are needed in order to maximize the performance improvement for the user. In this paper, a joint MIMO mode and modulation scheme selection is proposed to maximize spectral efficiency, under a given error probability. In addition, to reduce the feedback overhead, a simplified mode selection is developed by taking advantage of the channel characteristics. It is very suitable for the application of the next-generation wireless communications, where very high spectral efficiency is envisaged. The improvement on spectral efficiency of the proposed method is confirmed through simulation results.
