A second look: On "the making of a new nation"

What follows is a kind of meta-commentary on what I think is a superb paper. As I see it, this paper is basically an attempt to describe the socio-political construction of Singaporean national identity and to show how this particular ideological construct is reinforced by and inculcated through a whole complex of social institutions, namely the workplace, the educational system, the public housing system, and family planning.
