組織簡介
光電科技是二十一世紀兆位元資訊社會不可或缺的推動性技術之一。其特性兼具尖端科技與跨領域研究的特質，垂直整合並衝擊工程、生醫、材料與基礎科學等傳統領域，光電科技發展除了促進新的科學突破外，其產業應用也日新月異，而固態照明與太陽能光電產業發展也因全球能源短缺而方興未艾。
光電工程學系架構下之光電研究所創立於1980年，是國內第一個培育光電科技研發人才的研究所，畢業碩博士迄今已超過千人。為因應光電產業之發展，本校於2004年率先成立國內研究型大學第一個光電工程學系，並依以下教育目標培育光電優秀人才。
