N2 - The difference of cell deformation passing through a microchannel by positive- and negative-pressure driven flow, which are defined as "PUSH" and "PULL" in this paper, is investigated based on the experimental results. While both cases are commonly utilized in microfluidic applications, the aim of this work is to point out the fundamental difference of them regarding cell deformation. Experiments are carried out by using osmotic-swollen RBCs for exaggerating the difference. Two observational parameters, maximum insertion length and cell membrane curvature, are obtained for each tested RBC. According to the results, the cell deformation under PUSH and PULL is statistically different.
