Abstract

Obesity and overweight have become a worldwide health problem. The treatment for obesity includes lifestyle changes of increasing physical activity and reducing calorie intake. Low adherence and weight regain are the issues should be tackled for effective weight loss. In this study, the web-based weight loss reminder system is developed based on fuzzy logic approach, and offers users a tool to record theirs self-weighing, energy intake, and exercise. The multiple fuzzy-based inference engines are proposed to evaluate the levels of the calculated features and output the linguistic levels. Furthermore, rule-based approach is utilized to derive reminding message. The reminding mechanism shows the effectiveness of weight loss that participants could control theirs weights with the weight loss referenced curve and the reminding messages.
