Abstract

In this paper, the gold nanoparticle embedding technique was used to determine how vacuums and pressured CO2 affect the properties of polymer surfaces. Elastic contact mechanics revealed that a non-glassy surface layer exists in polystyrene (PS) films at temperatures below the bulk T g, especially under pressured CO2.
