Abstract
Transannular interaction between the two carbonyl groups of the titled compound is evidenced by C-13 NMR, X-ray and chemical reactions. Photolysis in isopropanol or tetrahydrofuran induces a pinacol-type reductive coupling between the two carbonyl groups.
