N2 - This paper models access point (AP) selections by IEEE 802.11 wireless stations (WSs) as a native game, where each WS's goal is to maximize its achievable throughput. We have proven the stability of this game (Nash equilibrium), and shown that selfish behavior of individual WS in fact improves overall bandwidth fairness among WSs. Thorough simulations were conducted to demonstrate the quality of the analytical results.
