Abstract

A microstructure-embossing reflector sheet (μ-ERS) which compensates dark area between lamps and enhances on-axis brightness for direct-lit backlight module is proposed. The proposed μ-ERS was designed as an anisotropic reflector which provides higher intensity distribution between two lamps to reduce lamp mura and simultaneously concentrates higher intensity along central axis direction through the orientated total-internal-reflection (TIR) in the designed micro textures on PET substrate. The design, simulation results and measurement of the μ-ERS in a direct-lit backlight module are demonstrated.
