Abstract

A bandwidth reconfigurable on-chip bandpass filter was designed based on the GaAs process. The filter is composed of a cascade of high pass and low pass filters. The reconfigurable bandwidth is achieved by changing the cutoff frequency of the high and low pass filters. The tuning element is realized by pHEMT transistor and Switched capacitor array. By introducing a LC resonant tank to form a transmission zero outside the high and low pass filter, the out of band suppression of the filter can be effectively improved. A bandpass filter with a center frequency fixed at 1.8GHz and adjustable bandwidth was designed and manufactured using the 0.15um GaAs pHEMT process design. This filter achieves a center frequency of l.8GHz and a bandwidth tuning range of 4001000MHz, with bandstop suppression of larger than 30dB.
