Abstract

The reaction of O(3P) with alkenes plays an important role in combustion. CH3 and C2H5 were monitored as the direct products of the reactions of O(3P) with isomeric three butenes (1-,trans-2-, and iso-butenes) by using photoionization MS. ) The signal intensity of CH3(m/z = 15) increased linearly with the increase of initial concentration of O atoms for all the three butanes. The branching ratios of the CH3 product channel were determined as 0,05, 0.52, and 0.24 for the reactions of O atoms with 1-butene, trans-2-butene, and isobutene, respectively. The yields were determined as 0.63 for both 1-butene and trans-2-butene. The results were consistent with the prediction regarding the site-selectivity for the addition of O atom to the double bond of the substituted alkenes. Original is an abstract.
