Abstract
Basically, the SMC reaction is a radical chain growth copolymerization between the styrene monomer and the unsaturated polyester molecule. In this paper, authors study the reaction kinetics of compounds with different curing agents, i. e. , initiators and inhibitor. The molding results are also obtained to show the effect of changing curing agents on the cure cycle. A mathematical model developed by L. J. Lee is used to simulate the SMC process. Authors then propose a set of predictive parameters from this model as guidelines for the optimal molding of SMC.
