Abstract
A novel procedure involving pyridinium-assisted hydrothermal synthesis has been developed for the preparation of monodisperse graphene quantum disks (GQDs) with a homogeneous size. Due to the high water solubility and pH stability, the first application of GQDs in the bioimaging of HeLa cells has been demonstrated.
