Abstract

This paper proposes a novel on-chip mixer with a surprisingly high mixing speed compared with conventional approaches. The basic idea is to coat the surface of a channel with surfactant for dramatically reducing the wall shear stress, and the coating eventually brings a high speed mixing speed for the liquid in the chamber. Through experiments, we could confirm that it takes only 15ms to achieve an even mixing for the liquids in the chamber, and it is roughly 1000 times faster than that in conventional approaches.
