Abstract

Liquid crystals (LCs) possess a state of matter whose properties in between isotropic liquid and solid crystal phases, flow like a liquid, but simultaneously hold crystal-like molecular orientations. LC phases can be induced by various factors: the temperature variations, the level of solvent concentration, and the ratios of organic-inorganic composition. The article will discuss major LC physics for functioning, materials, phases, syntheses of the materials, etc. for various applications.
