Abstract

Zinc oxide (ZnO) is an inorganic material and it can provide more reliable alignment than conventional polyimide alignment layers especially used in liquid crystal (LC) projection displays operating at high temperature and light intensity. Nanostructure surfaces of ZnO nanowire (NW) arrays were investigated in this work. The ZnO NW arrays on the indium tin oxide (ITO) glass substrate were fabricated and the vertically-Aligned property of liquid crystal molecules on the nanostructure surface was observed.
