Abstract
The rate constants for reactions of the CH radical with selected molecules relevant to hydrocarbon combustion systems have been measured at room temperature. The CH radical was generated by multiphoton dissociation of CHBr3 at 193 nm and monitored by laser induced fluorescence using a pulsed tunable dye laser operating in the 420-440 nm region. The mechanisms of these reactions have been discussed in terms of observed rates and other thermochemical data.
