Abstract

A volume of fluid finite difference method based computer code was developed to simulate the heat transfer and squeezing flow in the hot-plate welding process. The simulation results include melt displacement, temperature distribution, and stress build-up and relaxation. By implementing the crystallization kinetic model developed in Part I, the formation of stress-induced crystal structure in the heat affected zone can be revealed.
