Abstract

We have studied the reactions of O(3P) atoms with alkynes in the series acetylene through 1-hexyne at room temperature via the CO laser resonance absorption technique. Observed vibrational population distributions of the CO product were found to be consistent with the general mechanism: {A figure is presented} Based on the measured CO′ product yields, the rate constants or O(3P) + 1-pentyne and 1-hexyne have been evaluated.
