Abstract

This paper presents a novel loop antenna operating dual bands for wireless ocular physiological monitoring (WOPM). The proposed antenna is fabricated on a thin-film poly-para-xylylene C (parylene C) substrate with a small thickness of 11 um. The overall dimension of the proposed antenna is suitable to apply in the soft contact lens and to transmit the signal in Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS). To verify the performances of the antenna, measuring pigs' eyes with instrument, the parameters are similar to human's eyes. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed antenna can operate dual bandwidths that cover ISM bands at 2.4 and 5.8 GHz. The simulated radiation patterns at the central frequency of the 2.4 and 5.8 GHz bands show an excellent directional characteristic with gains of -15.3 dBi at 2.45 GHz and -20 dBi at 5.8 GHz.
