Abstract
This paper presents the design and implementation of a high-power high-voltage power supplies for X-ray tubes. A new digital control scheme has been developed for the fully digital control of a resonant dc-dc converter to cope with the highly nonlinear characteristics of the X-ray tube. A single-chip DSP controller, the TMS320F240 from Texas Instruments, has been employed for the realization of the digital control scheme. The developed power converter modules can be serially or parallel connected to generate very high voltage or very high current for X-ray tubes or magnet power supply applications. Practical realization issues for the digital control of modularized power supplies have been discussed. A DSP-controlled 8 kW resonant switching dc-dc converter module has been implemented. Experimental results show the feasibility and advantages of using DSP control for sophisticated power supply system.
