Abstract

Dissociative photoionization of CH2Cl2 to form fragment ions CH2Cl+, CHCl+, and CCl+ was studied with a photoionization mass spectrometer using synchrotron radiation as an ionization source. IE of CH2Cl2, AE of the three fragment ions, and relative branching ratios were derived from their photoionization efficiency curves. Dissociative photoionization channels for production of CH2Cl+, CHCl+, and CCl+ were identified based on comparison of the experimental and calculated dissociation energies.
