Abstract

We propose and demonstrate a Ge-on-Si photodetector-based direct-detection orthogonalfrequency-division-multiplexing passive-optical-network (OFDM-PON) employing Volterra-filtering for nonlinear compensation. Capacity is enhanced by 49.55% to data-rate of 53.8Gbit/s after 20-km standard-single-mode-fiber (SSMF).
