Abstract

This paper investigates both theoretically and experimentally, the contradirectional coupling of two partial coherent beams in photorefractive crystals. As a result of the coupling, the mutual coherence of the two beams can be increased significantly. A set of coupled equations is derived to describe the propagation of the mutual-coherence function and the self-coherence functions.
