Abstract

Methanol is a highly toxic substance used as an industrial solvent and in automobile antifreeze Acute methanol poisoning produces severe metabolic acidosis and serious neurologic sequelae. Bilateral putaminal necrosis is often recognized radiologically in patients with severe methanol. poisoning. We present a unique case of methanol poisoning in which dramatic changes of the bilateral putaminal necrosis between the 1st and 2nd days were demonstrated on computed tomography.
