Abstract

This study is focused on characterizing the mechanism associated with mold filling in the SRIM and RTM processes by investigating the effects of stacking sequences of reinforcement fiber mats on the mold filling. A numerical simulation model has been developed to predict the flow front progression and pressure field during mold filling. The predictions of these models are compared with flow visualization experiments with variations in permeability.
