Abstract

In this paper, we measure the air-to-ground signals of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), and model the channel with two-ray ground-reflection effect for the UAV communication system. This modeling of channel can provide a suitable path loss model to analyze the quality of service for the air-to-ground wireless communication. We compare the path loss of two-ray ground-reflection model with that of the single-ray model based on the air-to-ground measurement of signals from the UAV. The results show that the two-ray ground-reflection model is more applicable to the short-distance UAV communication than the single-ray model for evaluating air-to-ground communication systems.
