Abstract

By incorporating apodization and double-layer grating structures, a broadband silicon photonics Mode-Division-Multiplexing (MDM) grating coupler is successfully designed with a broad bandwidth of 62nm above 40% coupling efficiency for all three LP01, LP11a, and LP11b modes of the few-mode fiber.
