Applying ACTN to Transport Network Slicing in 5G Backhaul

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contributionpeer-review

Abstract

This research focuses on the slicing technology of the 5G Transport Network (TN), and discusses how to map the 3GPP slicing standard to the 5G TN to provide appropriate transmission capabilities, meet the end-to-end requirements of network slice, and keep the flow between the device and the service application smooth. We design a highly available and more flexible TN slicing architecture for the backhaul transport subnetwork based on the IETF ACTN architecture. Although the ACTN architecture has been applied to the transport management of multi-domain optical fiber networks and IP/MPLS networks in recent years, there are still few studies on using ACTN for the transport management of network slices and verifying its feasibility based on the 5G architecture.
