Abstract

The traditional charging models such as those based on amount of data transfer and number of short messages are no longer adequate for M2M communications. Consequently, new charging models based on newly identified charging factors have been proposed to address this issue. Nevertheless, due to the diversity and complexity of charging factors involved in M2M communications, an automatic tool is deemed necessary to assist defining appropriate charging models for a given type of M2M services. This paper reports the design and application of such a tool to ease the adoption of new charging models in M2M communications.
