Abstract

An on-chip switched tunable inductor based on magnetic flux linkage modification is proposed. The magnetic flux linkage was adjusted through an auxiliary coil that was connected to a flip-flop in parallel with a MOS switch. The inductance was monotonically tuned by applying MOS gate voltages, which had a broad tuning range of 1.32-2.03 nH (42.4%) at 8 GHz. A high quality factor of 61.6 at 8 GHz was achieved because the flip-flop provided negative resistance.
