Abstract

In this study, an erbium fiber ring laser is demonstrated by using multiple-fiber-ring (MFR) scheme to reach single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) operation. The proposed MFR architecture can not only mitigate the multi-longitudinal-mode (MLM) induced by the longer fiber length and homogeneous gain broadening of erbium, but also can elongate the tuning scope from C- to part of L-bands. Furthermore, the obtained optical signal to noise ratio (OSNR), output power, laser linewidth and stability of the presented fiber laser are also performed experimentally.
